LinkedIn is having a moment and it’s just beginning

LinkedIn is a professional social networking site and it is having its big moment right now. According to Omnicore LinkedIn has reached over 590 million users with 260 million being monthly active. Where I see the biggest opportunity for growth of the site is that there are only 87 million millennials in LinkedIn. These millennials are reaching an age where they are looking for professional advice and professional advancements and LinkedIn is where they are wanting to go.

Millennials are flocking to the site because of that and in hopes of finding shelter within LinkedIn’s “professional” walls. We grew up with social media as college, high school or, the worst of all, middle school students. This has left us with years of awkward and inappropriate postings that are constantly haunting us as flashbacks and “memories”.

Dear Facebook,

Please stop sharing with me my teenage memories… it’s getting awkward.

What should you do about that?

If you haven’t already, create an account and start posting.

Of the 590 million it is reported that only 3 million are creating and sharing content on a weekly basis. That’s a mind-blowing stat. Imagine being one of the earliest content creators of Instagram? Just check the stats on quick image post I shared above. The opportunity to build a large following simply by consistently posting content is massive. Posting often allows you to get content out and learn what resonates with your audience. Videos are consistently rated as having the highest engagements, followed by images and written content last. I recently have been trying to increase my LinkedIn page content creation and this blog post is designed to compliment that.

In my own journey to increasing my LinkedIn content creation, I reached out to someone that I connected with that has been killing the game when it comes to activity on LinkedIn. I’m serious, I see this guy’s name up and down my feed. His name is Jordan Paris. He’s an author, podcast host and his LinkedIn profile is pretty great. I asked him how he saw the trend early on and what has been his strategy for jumping ahead? He shared with me a video from his site. He did a lecture about how LinkedIn can be used as a great personal branding site to land a job and make more money. I highly recommend checking it out here: https://jordanparis.com/ep51
